Sapphire Point and Frisco couples session

The Breckenridge area is a favorite area of Colorado for many. For good reason! Its beautiful with lots of mountains, Dillon reservoir, and countless beautiful hikes; there’s so many location options and activities. I’m so thankful I was able to explore the area with Brooke and Kevin- they are truly a remarkable couple. Both of them are actual sunshine and two of the kindest people I’ve ever met. Brooke asked if she could bring her dog Waffle and she made a super cute and fluffy addition! The way Kevin looked at Brooke made my heart melt. Seeing people who are made for each other, so in love, is one of my favorite parts of working with couples. On a totally superficial note- I think Brooke has some of the most amazing hair ever. Seriously even in wind and snow she had gorgeous super model curls.

Amazingly Sapphire Point wasn’t too crowded even on a Saturday afternoon. We wandered around the area talking and laughing and staring out at the amazing views of the mountains and Lake Dillon. After Sapphire Point we headed to our second location. We were the only ones there and it was so quiet and peaceful.  It looked like somewhere you had to hike too, but it was actually super accessible. We walked on a completely frozen lake and through some super deep snow. It was cold, but so worth it!

We were nearing the end of our session when it started to flurry. The snow coupled with the incredible outfits Brooke and Kevin chose- especially the faux fur stole- gave me total Game of Thrones vibes. At first we were excited about the flurries, but then it really started to truly snow. The weather changes so fast in the mountains and we knew we needed to start heading back before the roads got dangerous! Even with the unexpected snow we had the best couple hours adventuring around in the snow and mountains together.

Winter sessions can be hard because of the unpredictable weather, and being overly prepared is key. I always bring hand warmers and make sure we can take warm up breaks in the car if we need them. Having layers and warm shoes are also key in having a winter session that’s fun and not miserable! The snow is absolutely magical, but its so important to stay safe.
