August of 2021 was super smokey, especially in Boulder. The mountains were a hazy blue and all of the plants green from the summer rain. Marissa and Adam had traveled with friends and family to Colorado all the way from Iowa to get married on top of a mountain. Its always a little funny to hear the reactions of people driving up a mountain for the first time- Flagstaff mountain doesn’t have any guard rails and its very popular among bikers, making the drive a little bit nerve wracking for flatlanders. I was the same way when I first moved to Colorado, now I hardly even notice!
Marissa and Adam got married at the Sunrise Amphitheatre on Flagstaff Mountain in Boulder. Boulder offers several different rental areas for small weddings and elopements, which is perfect for couples that want to include friends and family in their day. Flagstaff has so many beautiful areas and its super easy to have your ceremony in one of the designated sites and then go on an adventure after to some of the many of the other beautiful locations.
While guests arrived Marissa got dressed with the help of her mom and daughter. She laced up her hiking boots and was ready for the ceremony to begin. Her daughter walked her down the aisle and fluffed her dress perfectly while she stood upfront with Adam. The ceremony was officiated by one of the couple’s friends and was super personal and all about the journey they had been on together.
After the ceremony we went to two more locations. One with epic mountain views that, even with the smoke, were still beautiful and one a field full of wildflowers. Marissa and Adam had the best of both worlds- a day with their friends and family and an adventure, just the two of them.
